I like to have pretty little things in my room that are unique and individual, things that no one else has. I started to buy more make up brushes earlier this year and then realised I had nowhere to store them! I love the idea of having a little mini make up station for myself, so I like things like brushes to be on display. So I thought, instead of going to the shops and buying some storage, why not save money (total student logic), and make some myself! So that's what I did:
You will need:
- a little paintbrush
- an empty jar (washed and dried)
- a small bowl
- scissors
- a few old magazines
- PVA glue
- Pour some PVA glue into your bowl.
- Cut out plenty of cute things from the magazines, even things you aren't particularly bothered about; these ones can be used to help cover the jar completely.
- Tear the edges around the cut outs to give them a more jagged effect.
- Organise your cut outs; make a pile of your favourite ones that you definitely want to be seen!
5. Place a cut out onto the jar and get some glue on the paintbrush (not loads, you don't want to wet the paper so much that it starts tearing).
6. When the cut out is in position, paste the glue over it.
7. Do this until the jar is covered, and allow time to dry.
8. Pop in your brushes, combs, eyeliners etc and enjoy!
People often say to me "don't you worry incase you get it wrong?" But I don't think there is a wrong way of doing this! And if you did think you messed up, no one would know other than you! So just go for it!
I will now be selling these jars for £2 each and will ship worldwide! I will make each one custom, so they will all be different! If you would like to ask any questions or buy a jar, please feel free to comment below, or contact me via Instagram, Twitter or e-mail me!
