I would love to be one of those people who are blessed with flawless skin, but that's not the case! I have never had 'bad' skin as such, but it goes through many phases where it's not particulary 'good' either. When I was in high school, mainly when I was about 13/14, I used to suffer with lots of small spots on my chin and forehead. Over the past couple of years it has calmed down a lot, and I suffer mainly with blackheads and pimples under the surface, and redness (which can luckily be covered with makeup!). But like I said, it still goes through phases where I just have breakouts! Over the years I have tried a million and one different brands and types of face washes/scrubs/creams.. But the only that I have found never fails me is Dermalogica.
Dermalogica are a skincare brand which sell everything from clay masks to skin sprays! Their products are sold in the likes of Debenhams and Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar, and also have a website - http://www.dermalogica.co.uk/uk/. Since receiving a starter pack about three years ago for my birthday, I have been hooked on their products, and they are now by far my favourite and most trusting skincare brand ever!
Aside from the fact the products are amazing, the packaging is so simple yet so pretty. Their 'Clear Start' range is targeted at young skin, and my skin is quite sensitive when it comes to washes and scrubs, so it's perfect for me. The key ingredient I believe is something called Salicylic Acid. It is best known for its use in anti-acne products, and for me personally it seems to work every time.
I don't really have a daily sort of routine with these, because I see them as a kind of treat for my skin. They are about £13 each, and the Pore Control Scrub and Cooling Masque (if used every day) would be gone within a couple of weeks. For a student with no job, it would be quite hard to keep up stock on these things, haha!
Cooling Masque: this is a blue kind of gel masque which is designed to clear breakouts and soften the skin. You leave it on for 7-10 minutes and then wash it off. It states that you should use it 3-5 times a week, but aside from the fact I don't really have time to do that, my skin couldn't handle it. I use it just once every two weeks.
All Over Toner: a cooling spritz which you spray directly onto your face, or anywhere with spots; some people may prefer to use it on their chest or back. This is the one out of the three that I use most often; probably about 5 times a week, every evening when I have showered. I can ALWAYS rely on this to clear my skin up if it is bad.
Pore Control Scrub: designed to clear blackheads, this clay style scrub contains microbeads which have a kind of rough feel to them but leave the skin feeling super refreshed.
It is very rare that I use all three together, but I did tonight and my skin looks and feels amazing.
If you suffer with any level of acne from mild to severe, you should give this stuff a go! Thank you for reading. Big Love. xo
